Mini Red Tennis Yr 3/4 Mixed

This Competition is aimed at young people who are new or beginners to the game, not for those who are regularly competing in Mini Tennis competitions outside of school. If a young person is regularly competing, they already get plenty of other opportunities to play and compete. However, we would still encourage schools to involve these young players by giving them a role such as team captain or assistant coach!

The competition is for 2 Boys and 2 Girls in Year 3/4. Each team member should have a label. The label should show ‘name of team’ and whether the player is no.1 or no. 2 player – girl or boy.

The Year 3 & 4 Mini Tennis Red Schools Competition is an entry level event, aimed at beginners and players new to the game. This is not an event for advanced players already competing regularly outside of school. Teams that include ineligible players will be penalised.                            To prevent advanced players competing in this recreational level event a player should never have been rated higher than any one of the following rating levels:

• Red 3
• Orange 4

Any player who has ever achieved Red rating level 1 or 2 prior to moving up to Orange stage is ineligible.

Must use 17″ – 23″ size rackets

• The service is decided by a ‘toss’ at the start of the match
• The nominated person serves for the first point from the right side of the court, it then alternates every 2 points; first from the left court, and then from the right court.
• When serving the player should stand behind the baseline
• When serving the ball must not be bounced before being hit.
• The service can be hit over or underarm.
• Serves should be hit diagonally, landing in the diagonally opposite service box.  The ball must land in the service box.
