Lacrosse Yr 5/6 Mixed

June 27, 2018 @ 15:45 - 17:45

Free

SSFT Pop Lacrosse competition Rules 2017/2018                                                                                                                      Whilst competition is a healthy and important element of the festival it is important that all students benefit from taking part and enjoy participating.

Please bear in mind that for the majority of schools/students lacrosse is not played regularly and most have just had a taster session or two. Therefore, rules will be based on pop lacrosse but adapted slightly to suit our students and to keep the game flowing as much as possible.

Players

5 on the pitch at once. Always at least 2 girls or 2 boys on the pitch at all times.                                                                 Playing Area

Goals will be on the back line and players will not be able to run behind the goal.

Goal area (Arc) will be lined out as far as is possible.

All players start in their own half

Start/Stop Play

All play will be started or stopped by whistle.

Back line: if D’s knock it out then corner throw to A’s (as in football).

Scoring

A goal is scored by shooting the ball with the stick so it passes wholly over the goal line.

‘Own goals’ can be scored if it comes off the defender’s stick or body.

Goals may only be scored from the attacking half of the pitch.

No player may enter the arc but may reach in with the stick to retrieve the ball.
