This academic year, the Stevenage Sporting Futures Team have once again teamed up with Fit Kidz CIC to offer the Fit Kidz Go Programme to all partner schools. This 4-week programme encourages children to get active and set themselves individual challenges. The Fit Kidz Go Programme will consist of four weekly 1-hour lessons where the children will learn to use various pieces of functional fitness equipment and the different exercises they can do with the equipment. In week 3, we introduce various bodyweight exercises, and educate the children about the muscle groups activated throughout all exercises. They will get to work individually and in small groups.
In the final week 4 session, we challenge the children to come up with new exercises combining elements of what they’ve learnt over the previous three weeks, hence combining bodyweight exercises with using the functional equipment. On completion of the 4-week program, they will earn their program certificate.
After a very successful introduction of the Fit Kidz Row sessions for Year 6 students in 2021-22, we will be running the same program in 2022-23. During this single session of rowing, the students will learn about rower set up and adjustment, how to understand the units and programmes on the machine, and how to perform correct technique and rowing stroke. Please note this is taking place during specific weeks across the year:
