Stevenage Sporting Futures - Sports Awards

SSFT Sports Awards 2016/2017

The inaugural SSFT Sports awards will be held on 3rd July 2017 at Thomas Alleyne Academy, to celebrate the successes of students, teachers, volunteers and sports teams.  The nominations will be made by members of school staff and will be judged by SSFT and members of the executive board.  Some categories will link to the Hertfordshire Sports Partnership (HSP) end of year awards and the winners from the SSFT awards for these or similar categories will automatically be nominated at the appropriate time for Stevenage.

Categories which are available for schools to nominate

Primary School of the year

This award recognises the importance of everyone involved in education, in particular the sport, physical activity and physical education within the school.

Secondary School of the year

This award recognises the importance of everyone involved in education, in particular the sport, physical activity and physical education within the school.

Sports coordinator of the Year

This award is for the person who coordinates all the sport within the school.  From festivals, on tour, school games events, friendlies, after school clubs and so much more.

Couldn’t do sport without…

This award is for that person who, if they weren’t involved, sport wouldn’t happen.  That parent who always volunteers as an extra pair of hands, the coach who has tirelessly said the same thing over and over again until the group gets it right, the teacher who organisers the fixtures, events and festivals

Young Sports achiever of the year KS1

Pupils who have either represented the school, district, county, region or country. They have shown great sportsmanship, motivation & determination in their chosen sport/s

Young Sports achiever of the year KS2

Pupils who have either represented the school, district, county, region or country. They have shown great sportsmanship, motivation & determination in their chosen sport/s

Young Sports achiever of the year KS3

Pupils who have either represented the school, district, county, region or country. They have shown great sportsmanship, motivation & determination in their chosen sport/s

Young Disabled sports achiever of the year

Pupils who have either represented the school, district, county, region or country. They have shown great sportsmanship, motivation & determination in their chosen sport/s

School Sports Team

Awarded to the school team who have consistently demonstrated commitment, dedication and achievement, not necessarily won medals or festivals

Young Leader Award Key Stage 3/4

This award for the individual who has shown leadership throughout the academic year.  Whether it is in school, at an SSFT event or at school sports events.

Awards which are determined by SSFT

Apprentice of the year

Awarded to an individual who has shown commitment and dedication to running PE/School Sport in their school, who has worked tirelessly to ensure pupils in their school have every opportunity to participate in either competitive or non-competitive activities.

Stevenage Sports Ambassadors of the year

This award is for a school sports organising crew who has demonstrated great leadership within their school this year. Organising level 1 competitions, lunch time clubs, supported SSFT at events (including On Tour) and promoted healthy lifestyles within their schools

SSFT Award

For a School showing innovation and commitment in developing PE and School Sport within and beyond their school throughout the academic year.  The school should have participated in at least 5 of SSFT events.

School Games award

For showing a commitment to the School Games – Delivering School Games competitions at Level 1 and participating in Level 2 and Level 3 competitions.

School Games Value Award

This award should go to the school who demonstrates all the school games values.  They should be passionate about sport, show respect for the game, player and officials.  Should show determination in all sports.  Should have self-belief that they can achieve their goals.  Should be honest in all aspects of the game.  Should demonstrate excellent teamwork.

How to nominate

Nominations can only be made by partnership school staff.  A nomination form can be obtained from Chantal.  All nominations need to be submitted by the 16th June 2017.

Judging will then be done by SSFT staff and members of the executive board.

Three nominees will be short-listed for each category and will be contacted by no later than the 26th June 2017.

The awards will be held on the 3rd July 2017.
